Material explorations and re- imagining media
Swimming in soup is sometimes the only way one can describe the creative mind. My work as a visual arts teacher has hardwired me into looking for visual solutions in a wide field of techniques and processes. And I do get excited by experimentation. The vast array of media and materials I collect both new and used keeps me exploring and playing with new ideas.
'Biblio Archaeology' is term I give to the process of carving into a sealed book. Reimagining books into sculpture.
One of my favourite materials is paper and the techniques for folding paper offer an avenue to use it as a 3D media as well as finding a use for old magazines and catalogues.
Collage feeds my constructivist nature. Manipulating, cutting, folding and pasting.
